Thompson Jenner LLP has announced the appointment of Katy Hamilton-Brown and James Goulbourn as Partners, marking an important milestone in their careers and reflecting the firm’s long-standing commitment to developing talent from within.
Both Katy and James joined the firm in 2017 and have progressed through the business to take on senior leadership roles, demonstrating Thompson Jenner’s focus on investing in its people and supporting long-term career development.
Katy began her career in the firm’s bookkeeping department, gaining hands-on experience while studying towards her AAT qualification. She went on to qualify as a Chartered Accountant in 2023 and, more recently, as a Chartered Tax Advisor. Based in the Exmouth office, Katy works closely with individuals and owner-managed businesses, advising on accounts preparation, personal and business taxation, and providing practical, day-to-day support to help clients manage their finances and plan for the future.
James also joined Thompson Jenner in 2017, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 2021. Before moving into practice, he spent ten years in commercial banking across Devon and Cornwall, supporting businesses with their funding and growth strategies. Now based in the Exeter office, James advises a wide range of businesses on accounting, taxation and strategic planning, with particular expertise in Research and Development (R&D) tax credit claims, helping innovative companies identify qualifying activities and maximise available relief.
